Harold E. Sanders

Mr. Harold E. Sanders, 86, of Elberton, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home. Mr. Sanders was born to the late Clarence and Mollie Sanders in Elberton, GA on May 6, 1925.He married his beautiful bride, Bessie Cleveland Sanders, on February 9, 1951.In addition to his wife, Mr. Sanders is survived by his three loving daughters: Vickie Sanders of Atlanta, Debbie Sanders Leslie of Marietta, and Sharon Sanders Cash of Elberton.He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Caty Leslie, along with many caring friends and family. Mr. Sanders was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II from 1944 to 1946.Upon returning from the war, he resided in Atlanta for several years before returning to Elbert County. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by two brothers: Hoyt Sanders and Norman Sanders;a sister, Mabel Sanders Thomason; a niece, Gail Thomason Rucker;and a nephew, Cortez Sanders. A service celebrating Mr. Sanders’ life will be held Sunday, April 8, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church.Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Hicks Funeral Home.
