Mrs. Harriet Thornton Brown, 67, of Coldwater Creek Road, Dewy Rose, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at An Med Health Medical Center, Anderson.
Born on March 25, 1949 in Elberton GA, she was the daughter of Evelyn Lovin Thornton and the late Edwin Arnold Thornton Sr. Mrs. Brown retired after forty-seven years of service as a teller with Bank of America. Mrs. Brown was a former volunteer for the Hart County Relay for Life and also organized events for the March of Dimes. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband: Billy R. Brown; her mother: Evelyn L. Thornton of Elberton; her son: Chris Brown of Dewy Rose; her daughter: Deanne Bulger and her husband Edward of Dewy Rose; and five grandchildren: Emma Brown, Luke Brown, Madison Bulger, Jesse Bulger, and Aleia Bulger. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father; Edwin Arnold Thornton Sr. and one brother: Eddie Thornton.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jerry Durham and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening. The family is at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Hart County Relay for Life c/o American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Drive, Suite C, Athens GA 30606.
