Harvey Dean Childers, Sr.

Mr. Harvey Dean Childers, Sr., 74, of Red Dog Run Royston, GA passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospice House.

Mr. Childers was born January 28, 1948 in Orange County, NC to Thomas Gordon Childers, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Romines Hartsock. He was retired from Tampa Steel Company, and was an U.S. Army Special Forces veteran.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Tanya and Chris Calhoun of Monroe, GA, Tamera and Greg Frank of Waycross, GA, Teia and Nathan Gatlin of Millers Creek, NC, Kimberly and Travis Beverly of Tampa, FL; son: Dean Childers of Waycross, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Tom and Judy Childers of Bethlehem, GA, Eddie and Darlene Childers of Ila, GA; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a special caretaker and friend Carol Messer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings: Sue Archer, Jim Childers, Dwight Childers and Sonny Hartsock.

Memorial services to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held at a later date.
