Hazel Brown Dove

Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Brown Dove, 95, formerly of Kathwood Drive, Elberton, wife of over 50 years to the late Herschel Dove, went home to be with her Lord and a host of relatives on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She had resided in Walker County, Georgia since 2010.

Mrs. Dove was born in Elberton on October 10, 1921, daughter of the late Ben and Linnie Sue Dye Brown. She graduated from LPN school at the age of 40 and worked at Spring Valley Health Care Center until she retired at the age of 70. She was a life-long member of Elberton First Baptist Church where her husband Hershel was Sunday School Superintendent and a deacon. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Benny, and daughter Suellen Dove Lindsey. Also entering heaven before her were her grandson Shannon, sister Julia Hazelwood, and brother Albert Brown.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Gail Dove Ward; daughter in law, Kathleen Dove; grandsons: Scott Dove, Michael Ward, Daniel Ward, and Marvin Martin; granddaughters: Katie Ward and Sharon Martin; and sisters-in-law: Laura Brown, Dot Dove, and Nellie Buchanon. Hazel was fortunate to be blessed with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 16, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Purvis and Mr. Richie Eckler officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 12:00-1:45p.m. prior to the service on Friday.
