Mrs. Hazel Grace Johnson Dickerson, 87, of Elberton, wife of the late Carl A. “PeeWee” Dickerson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Dickerson was born in Elberton on June 21, 1932, daughter of the late John Thomas Johnson, Jr. and Annie Ruth Warren Johnson. She was a retired textile worker having worked at Elberton Manufacturing Company and Elberton Mills. She and her husband also owned and operated PeeWee’s Service Station for many years. Hazel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Donna Goolsby and Tony Dickerson (Kathy Linker), both of Elberton; daughter-in-law, Dawn Dickerson of Commerce; grandchildren: Lynn Jarrell (Carl), Billy Dickerson, Kristy Dickerson, Tia Tilley, and Brad Dickerson (Brooke); great-grandchildren: Cody Jarrell (Christine), Zack Jarrell, Brylee Dickerson, and Bria Dickerson; great-great-grandchildren: Carson, Garrett, and Jesse; siblings: Ina Madden and Joe Johnson, both of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Karl Eric Dickerson; daughter-in-law, Pam Dickerson; son-in-law, Johnny Goolsby; and siblings: Clinton Johnson, Wilton Johnson, Parks Johnson, and Frances Mairholtz.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, July 15, at 4 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 3:00-3:45p.m. prior to the service on Monday.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Nancy Hart Nursing Center for the excellent care given to Hazel during her stay there.
