Hazel Rucker Fellows, Elberton, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31st, 2019, after a brief illness. She was 98 years old and formerly from Atlanta, Georgia where she worked for the Federal Government, Office of Personnel Management.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Hal and Lillian B. Rucker, and also by three siblings: Eleanor R. Buchanan, Bessiemae R. Cleveland, and Walter Harrison Rucker. Her youngest sister, Caroline R. Richardson of Tucker, Georgia survives her along with a number of nieces and nephews who were the loves of her life.
Hazel met her husband, H. Eugene Fellows in Decatur, Georgia where they were married in the chapel of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in the presence of family and close friends. Gene passed away on April 30, 1988.
She was a member of the Clairmont Hills Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Elberton. Hazel retired from the Federal Government and returned to her home in Elberton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd, at Vans Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Elberton from 12:30-1:30p.m. prior to the service.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Ramp Ministry of First Baptist Church, Elberton, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
