Hazel Anderson Smith

Mrs. Hazel Anderson Smith, age 80, of Elberton, Ga. passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at PruittHealth Spring Valley .She was born in Elberton, GA to the late Reuben & Dora Anderson. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herbert L. Smith.They wed February 23, 1952.She is also preceded in death by a son, Mitchell L. Smith; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rose Smith; siblings, Clifton Anderson, John M. Anderson, Martin Anderson, Wade Anderson, Hannah Herlong, Agnes Ward and Azalee McMullan. Hazel was the last survivor of her immediate family. Survivors include grandson, Jeff Smith and his wife Nikki of Elberton; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Scarlett Smith of Elberton. A funeral service was held in the Chapel ofHicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Thursday evening, August 11, at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Purvis and Rev. Roland Molina officiating.A private interment followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Curtis Veal, Mike Anderson, Gene Burton, Kenneth Dye and Bob Thomas served as pallbearers,and Gene Anderson, Allan Black, Charlie Hill and Wayne Wardserved as honorary pallbearers. Arrangements for Mrs. Hazel Anderson Smith were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
