Helen Compton Burdette

Helen Virginia Compton Burdette, age 85, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alec Compton and the late Annie Byrum Compton. She retired from Dobbins Air Force Base as the Head Cashier. Helen enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Edward Burdette, of Acworth, GA, David Bryan Burdette and his wife, Catherine, of Hiram, GA, and Deborah Elaine Garrett and her husband Ray, of Dallas, GA; a brother, George Bryant, of SC; a sister, Hazel Parham, of Elberton, GA; a special friend and companion, Johnny Price, of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Loy Burdette; a daughter, Shirley Diane Totten; and a son, William Terrell Burdette.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dwight Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Elberton, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
