Helen McAvoy Wilson, 83, of 290 North Hulin Avenue, Tignall, wife of Julian F. Wilson, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Wilson was born in Wilkes County, August 31, 1929, to the late Lawrence and Willie Young McAvoy. She was a homemaker, member of Mallorysville Baptist Church, and a former member of the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Julian F. Wilson of the home; children, Wanda Youchim of Wilkes County, Peggy & Randy Smith of Elberton, and Chet Wilson of Wilkes County; grandchildren, Jake & Chrissy Smith, Justin Wilson, and Jared Wilson; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ivy, & Wyatt Safrit, Tucker and Max Smith; one sister, Dell James of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by granddaughter, Audrey Safrit Thornton; three brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, December 30, in the Mallorysville Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Kerry McAvoy, Ronnie James, Thomas McVoy, Billy Walker, Bobby Walker, and Johnny Walker honored as pallbearers. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00PM to lie instate until the service hour. The family is at the residence of Randy & Peggy Smith, 2446 Jaudon Road, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Saturday evening. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in her honor to the Mallorysville Baptist Church 199 Bunch Road, Tignall, Georgia 30668.
