Helen Smith Erwin

Mrs. Helen Smith Erwin, 94, of Lexington Hwy., Elberton, GA wife of Robert R.L. Erwin passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at her daughters home in Gray, GA.

Mrs. Erwin was born March 2, 1923 in Oglethorpe Co., GA to John Rich Smith and Sarah Jones Smith. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and was a retired sales clerk from Woolworths Store after 25 years of dedication.

She is survived by her husband of 77 years: Robert "R.L." Erwin; daughter and son-in-law Carolyn E. Ray and Charles Ray of Gray, GA; daughter-in-law Brenda McMullan of Dewy Rose, GA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Wallace Erwin and brother Herndon Smith.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 2PM, Friday, August 18 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Austin McCall, Brooks McDuffie, Cory McDuffie, Nick Johnson, Tanner Ray and Andrew Coggins serving as pallbearers. The family is at the home on Lexington Hwy. and will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday night at Berry Funeral Home.

The family has requested to please omit flowers and make memorials in Helen's memory to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 1020 Jack McVeigh Dr. Elberton, GA 30635.
