Henry Lee Scott, Sr.

Mr. Henry Lee Scott, Sr., 78, of Elberton, husband of 41 years to the late Peggy Oneal Souther Scott, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Spring Valley Healthcare Center.

Mr. Scott was born in Elberton on October 2, 1940, son of the late Carl AIken Scott, Sr. and Birdie Lee Childs Scott. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Forest Hills Assembly of God. Henry served his community faithfully as an Elbert County Volunteer Fireman for many years.

Survivors include his children, Rosa Scott and Jim Allyn of Elberton, Donna Jean S. and Carl Duncan of Monroe, and Henry Lee, Jr. and Jaime Hartley Scott of Elberton; sister-in-law, Shirley Mills Scott of Elberton; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Terry Robert Scott, Carl Aiken Scott, Jr., Joel Miller Scott, and Clara Scott Sprouse.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Petty and John Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Derrick Lunsford, Doug Slay, Brad Burton, Randall Ruff, Darren Driver, Justin Hobbs, Chad Sizemore, and Matt Sipper honored as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 6.
