Hilda Rosser Herndon

Mrs. Hilda Rosser Herndon, 94, of Park Street, Elberton, wife of the late George Frank Herndon, Sr., passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.

Mrs. Herndon was born in Calhoun Falls, SC on October 20, 1927, daughter of the late George Thomas Rosser and Clara Johnson Rosser. She was a longtime employee of Dairy Queen in Elberton and also worked in the cafeteria at Samuel Elbert Christian Academy. Mrs. Herndon volunteered for many years in the concession stand for Elbert County Little League. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and enjoyed the many years she spent traveling with her travel group.

Survivors include her sons and their spouses: Frank and Mary Ann Herndon of Elberton, Allen and Angela Herndon of Elberton, and Dennis and Kimberly Herndon of Glendale, Arizona; sister, Camilla Rosser Wansley of Elberton; grandchildren and their spouses: Chris and Rebekah Herndon, Raymond and Candice Herndon, Heather and Jonathan Burnette, Kayla and Wes King, Taylor Herndon, and Kyle Herndon; great-grandchildren: Morgan and Haley Herndon, Colin, Brady, and Bryce Herndon, and Liberty, Cadance, and Hunter Burnette, and Blair King; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, George Johnson Rosser.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00-2:45p.m. prior to the service.
