Mrs. Hollis Ashworth Burnette, 76, of Melody Lane, Elberton, wife of James H. Burnette, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burnette was born in Elbert County on August 16, 1937, to the late Raymond and Estelle Boswell Ashworth. She was a charter member of Elberton Christian Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Burnette adored all children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 61 years, James H. Burnette of the home; son, Ray Burnette of Elberton; grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan and Heather Burnette of Winterville, Julie and Tony Taylor of Toccoa, and Beth and Kevin Eavenson of Elberton; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 31, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Aiken officiating. Private interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the residence on Melody Lane and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday evening. Pallbearers will include Kevin Eavenson, Mark Cartledge, Doug Maxwell, Tony Taylor, Marc Fleming, and Eddie Lee Boswell. Honorary pallbearers will include Charles Boswell and Bobby Boswell. Flowers are optional and those desiring may make contributions in Mrs. Burnette's memory to Elberton Christian Church, 1128 Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
