Hugh Dorsey Hopkins

Hugh D. Hopkins 90, of Alexian Healthcare Center in Chattanooga Tennessee, formerly of Elberton, passed away on November 14, 2009. He was born on December 7, 1918 and was the last surviving sibling of 12 children born to Walter and Olivia Osbourne Hopkins. He was a member of the Elberton Christian Church, and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Florine Neal Hopkins. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Greg Trotter of Chattanooga Tennessee; son, Fred Hopkins of Sevierville, Tennessee, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at Berry Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 18 at 10 AM with the Rev. Bill Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton. The body is at Berry Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, November 17 from 6 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Debt Reduction Fund at the Elberton Christian Chruch, P.O. Box 382, Elberton, Georgia, 30635.
