Mr. Henry Victor "H.V." Booth, 96, of Elberton, finished his course in faith on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Pruitt Health at Spring Valley. Mr. Booth was born in Elbert County on December 28, 1918, to the late Isham Johnson Booth and Amanda Lou Dunn Booth. He was an owner/operator of a Ford Dealership. H.V. served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy and was proud of the fact that he was the last true son of a Confederate Soldier in the state of Georgia. He was a member of Vanna United Methodist Church, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Lt. Dickson L. Baker Camp 936 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and Primrose Masonic Lodge #79. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two wives: Sara Virginia Dickerson Booth and Margaret Mealor McLanahan Booth; two sons: Edwin J. Booth, Sr. and Virgil Booth. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Gay Cleveland Booth of Elberton; grandchildren: Leslie and Mark Wallace, Edwin Johnson "John" Booth, Jr., and Clayton Cleveland Booth, all of Elberton; and two great-grandchildren: Evan Johnson Booth and Mary Claire Cleveland Wallace. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 10:00a.m. until time for the service on Wednesday morning. Pallbearers will include Donnie Cordell, Wayne Booth, Milton Neal, Jud Barton, Olds Harris, and Bill King. The family respectfully request flowers be omitted.
