Mrs. Ilene Eavenson Callaway, 92, of Jaudon Road, Elberton, wife of the late Herbert Louis Callaway, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Callaway was born in Elbert County on November 17, 1923, to the late Obie Clyde Eavenson and Mary Elizabeth Dickerson Eavenson. She was a housewife, loving mother, and a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton. Left to cherish her memories are her sons and daughters-in-law: Donald "Donny" and Linda Callaway of Lancaster, SC, Michael and Peggy Callaway of Blairsville, GA, and Bryan and Jennifer Callaway of Elberton, GA; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special caregivers Jackie Smith, Joyce Rucker, Sissy Jackson and Patsy Glaze. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Charles E. Eavenson, Clyde T. Eavenson, Margaret E. Neal Thomas, and Susan Eavenson. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 2:30PM in the First Baptist Church of Elberton with Rev. Gary Purvis and Rev. Raymond Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the home on Jaudon Road and will receive friends from 1-2:30PM at First Baptist Church of Elberton just prior to the service.
