Mrs. Imogene “Jean” Brown Scarborough, 88, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Scarborough was born in Elberton, daughter of the late Curtis and Alleen Adams Brown.She was the wife of Johnny Oliver Scarborough.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Bruce Fortson;sons: Darrell Bruce Fortson, Wendell Martin Fortson, and Gary Lee Fortson;her sister, Annette Brown Bond; and her brother, Wayne Brown. Before retiring, Mrs. Scarborough worked for the USDA as an administrative assistant in the ASCS division.She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In addition to her husband, Johnny, Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her daughter, Wanda Fortson Campbell of Conway, SC; three grandchildren: Jason Baker (Leanna), Ryan Baker (Jenny), and Mindy Christian (Travis); six great-grandchildren: Elvie Baker, Jay Baker, Ethan Baker, Miles Baker, Madelyn Christian, and Tait Christian.She also leaves behind adaughter-in-law, Tammy Johnson Forston; one sister, Sandy Andrews (Bill );a brother-in-law, Bob Bond; and a sister-in-law, Marion Brown. A service to celebrate Mrs. Scarborough’s life was held Monday, July 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. inThe Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home,officiated by President Van Rownd . Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery. Arrangements for Mrs. Jean Brown Scarborough were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
