Iris Iva McCannon Holloman Gunnells

Mrs. Iris Iva McCannon Holloman Gunnells, 95, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Comer Health and Rehab.A native of Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late Onnie and Mae Bell Porterfield McCannon.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, J.M. Holloman, to whom she was married 37 years and she was married to James A. Gunnells for 18 years.Mrs. Gunnells was also preceded by her grandson, Jason Dickerson and two brothers, Mell and Marshall McCannon. Mrs. Gunnells was retired from Comer Manufacturing where she was a supervisor.She was a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Gail and Sammy Dickerson, of Elberton; granddaughter, Kellie and her husband Michael McCauley, of Dallas, GA; one brother, Rufus “Mac” McCannon, of Colbert; sister-in-law, Catherine McCannon, of Hull, and four great grandchildren. A private graveside service was held Thursday in Carlton City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlton City Cemetery Perpetual Care Trust, c/o Barbara Brown, 651 Lexington Rd. Carlton, Ga 30627. Arrangements were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
