Mr. Joseph Daniel "Dan Tuck" Smith, 76, of Veribest Enterprise Road, Oglethorpe County, husband of Sybil Udene Sellers Smith, entered into rest on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born in Oglethorpe County on November 6, 1937, to the late James Daniel "Jim" and Annie Ruby Peterman Smith. He was of the Christian faith and a retired quarry worker. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sybil Udene Sellers Smith; three children, Kay Ann Randall of Winder, Randy Lee Smith and his wife Delon Slay Smith of Elberton, and Margaret Marie Alexander and her husband Terry Davis Alexander of Elberton; six grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Randall, James Randall, Tiffany Marie Alexander, Dylan Davis Alexander, Maribeth Ruby Smith, and Slayter Lee Smith; four siblings, Myrtle Brake of Union Point, Eugene T. Smith of Bowman, Sara Nell Hill and her husband Allen Hill of Hull, and James E. Smith of Carlton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Mark William Smith. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, April 13, at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in Burt's United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family is at the residence on Veribest Enterprise Road and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00-2:30p.m. prior to the service on Sunday.
