J. Kenneth Allgood

Mr. John 'Kenneth' Allgood, 77, of Pembroke Circle, Elberton, husband of Clara Mae Tate Allgood, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Athens Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Allgood was born in Wilkes County on January 22, 1937, to the late John Hill "Bully" and Kathleen Walton Algood. He was a 1955 graduate of Elbert County High School and was the owner and operator of Allgood Granite Company. His family was known for owning and operating the Dairy Queen Brazier for many years. Kenneth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elberton and the Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Clara Mae Tate Allgood of the home; daughters: Debbie Smith and her husband Jeff and Cindy Yeargin, all of Elberton; son-in-law, Tony Dickerson of Elberton; grandchildren: Tia Tilley, Holly Herrequin, Brad Dickerson, Brent Smith, Jade Smith, Chad Smith, and Allen Smith; three great-grandchildren on the way; sister and brothers-in-law: Freida and Bobby Delk and Allen Black, all of Elberton; mother-in-law, Edna Tate of Elberton; and several nieces nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children: Pamela Dickerson and infant Brian Allgood; and one sister: Carolyn Black. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 3:00p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Elberton with the Rev. Joe Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Dr. Arthur Lomant, Stan Maxwell, Chad Smith, Allen Smith, Brian Jenson, Cedrick Murray, Tony Dickerson, and Kevin Johnson honored as pallbearers. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday evening. Mr. Allgood will lie instate for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.
