Jack Ray Bozeman, age 84, of Elberton, Georgia, died Saturday, February 9, 2013.Born in Atlanta, Georgia (Oakland City) December 15, 1928, he was the son of the late C. Grady and Lynne Hudson Bozeman and was preceded in death by a sister, Gene Bozeman Waddy. A retired United Methodist Minister of the North Georgia Conference, his final appointment was as Senior Pastor of Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church.After graduation from Emory University and the Candler School of Theology, clergy appointments were Asbury, Decatur; Dunwoody; Trinity-On-The-Hill, Augusta; Elberton First; District Superintendent of the Dalton District; Newnan First; first Executive Director of the Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center; and Mount Zion, Marietta. Reverend Bozeman was an avid historian and was a member of numerous prestigious genealogical societies and service organizations, receiving multiple distinguished service awards. Reverend Bozeman is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Jacqueline King Bozeman;sons: Eric Bozeman, The Reverend Dr. Kirk Bozeman (Carol), and Grant Bozeman (Teresa);grandchildren: Holly Johnson (Chris), Katie Goodman (Bryan), Jack L. Bozeman, Kristen Bozeman, and Jennifer Bozeman; and great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Grant Johnson, and Claire Goodman. A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16 at the Elberton First United Methodist Church, with visitation in the church’s Fellowship Hall prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.A private inurnment followed the service.
