Mr. Jack Cordell Stovall, Sr., 90, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home. Mr. Stovall was a native of Elbert County, the son of the late Olin and Hattie Cordell Stovall. He worked for the City of Elberton for 30 years where he was a manager in the Water Purification Department. He was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stovall was preceded in death by his daughter, Cordelia Stovall Moore;a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Moore; four brothers: Herbert, Wilbur, Joe Pat, and James Stovall; and one sister, Nettie Sue Craft. Mr. Stovall is survived by his wife, Velma Hulme Stovall: a son, Jack C. Stovall, Jr. and his wife, Dina; his sisters: Martha Frye of Hartwell and Earlene Dargan of Athens; his grandchildren: Jeff Moore, Russell Moore, Brent Stovall (Jennifer), Dena Partain (Kerry) all of Elberton, Clint Bowen of Athens, and Chad Moore (Kendra) of Powder Springs.He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Madison Moore, Makenzi Moore, Liam Moore, Samantha Stone, Tyler Stovall, Lexie Partain and Jade Partain. A service to celebrate Mr. Stovall’s life was held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Wright, Chaplain Ron Little, and Rev. Ed Sayer officiating. Visitation was Monday, April 27, 2015 from 2 to 3 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment was at Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
