Mrs. Jacqueline Dye “Jackie” Dixon, 88, of Elberton, wife of the late William Franklin Dixon, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Pruitt Health at Spring Valley.
Mrs. Dixon was born in Elbert County on November 7, 1931, daughter of the late Harold Floyd Dye, Sr. and Jewell Estelle Childs Dye. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Nancy Hart High School and received her nursing certificate from Anderson College. Miss Jackie worked as a Registered Nurse at Elbert Memorial Hospital and always looked forward to getting together monthly with fellow retirees. She was a lifelong member of Eliam United Methodist Church where she was active in many capacities. While a resident of Spring Valley, Jackie enjoyed participating in activities there, especially bible studies, preaching, singings, and especially bingo!
Survivors include her children: Eric Dixon and his wife Donna of Elberton and Karen Hayes of Elberton; siblings: Marguerite McCall of Elberton, Thomas Newt Dye of Abbeville, SC, and Kenneth and Ellen Dye of Elberton; sister-in-law, Anne Dye of Elberton; grandchildren: Andy and Lisa Dixon, Ric and Amber Dixon, Zachary Hayes, and Miles Hayes, all of Elberton; great-grandchildren: Grace, Ella, and Beckett Dixon; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to name.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Hayes; brothers: Harold Dye and Howard Dye; and siblings-in-law: Silvey McCall, Betty Dye, and Pat Dye.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 28, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Teresa Lilja and the Rev. J. Wesley Privett officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Dwayne Dye, Russell Dye, Ron Dye, Mark McCall, Brandon Dye, and Jimmy Barker honored as pallbearers.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Sunday, September 27.
