Mr. James Clark Butler, 86, of Dewy Rose, GA, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 25, 2012 at his home. Mr. Butler was born to the late Arnold and Mary Seymour Butler on May 23, 1925.He was married to his bride, the late Jacquelyn Adams Butler for 55 years.“Papa James,” as he was affectionately called, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.He was a faithful Christian,and a longtime member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church, having served there many years as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher.He was the first president of the Elbert Co. Saddle Club and a member of the Cattleman’s Association.He worked throughout his life as a farmer and as a logging contractor. Mr. Butler is survived by his children:Morris Butler and his wife Bobbi, Annette Dye and her husband Floyd, Deborah Holbert and her husband Tony, and Mark Butler, all of Dewy Rose;5 grandchildren: Jill Callaway, Douglas Butler, Katie Hall, Barry Dye, and Elizabeth Jackson;and 10 great-grandchildren.He is also survived by a niece, Sandra Martin, a sister-in-law Phyllis Adams, and a nephew Joe Adams.In addition to his precious wife and parents,Papa James was preceded in death by a sister, Arnoldene Martin. A service to celebrate Mr. Butler’s life will be Monday afternoon, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Dewy Rose Baptist Church.Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening, February 26, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home. Interment will be at Dewy Rose Baptist Church Cemetery.Pallbearers will be family membersDouglas Butler, Barry Dye, Robbie Hall, Tony Jackson, Easton Callaway, and Joe Adams.
