James Charles "Jimmy" Cothran

Mr. James Charles “Jimmy” Cothran, 75, of Elberton, GA, husband of 45 years to the late Shelby Jean Cole Cothran, died peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.

Jimmy was born in Ware Shoals, SC on November 13, 1948, son of the late R.E. Cothran and Catherine “Cat” Turner Cothran. He was a truck driver having retired from Turner Concrete Company after 30 years of service, and a member of Historic Ruckersville Church. Jimmy enjoyed walking and was an avid Blue Devils fan. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his children: James Randall Cothran of Lavonia, GA, Pamela Jean Frady of Lavonia, GA, and Jimmy Cole of Elberton, GA; sisters: Janice Holtzclaw of Ware Shoals, SC and Susan Evans of Joanna, SC; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Honoring Jimmy’s request, no service will be held.
