James Edward Hawes

Mr. James Edward Hawes was born December 27, 1952 in Tignall, GA to the late Willie Earl Hawes and Sarah Frances Hawes Hill. He departed this life on November 19, 2022.


He was preceded in death by his wife: Eva B. Hawes, son: Stedric Bernard McLendon, sister: Jeanette Cade and brother: Charles Hawes.


He leaves to cherish his memories: seven sisters: Juanita Hawes, Sarah (Benny) Moss, Elizabeth Evans, Peggy Hawes, Gloria Hawes, Virginia (Roger) Norman, Terry (Michael) Burden and one brother: Floyd (Carolyn) Hawes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


James spent his early life in Tignall, GA. and later moved to Athens, GA. He was a loving, caring protector and the comedian of the family. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He enjoyed music, dancing and playing spades. He left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.


Memorial services to celebrate James life will be held 11AM, Friday, November 25, 2022 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Minister Jarvis Davis officiating.


Berry Funeral Home & Crematory of Elberton is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. James Edward Hawes.
