James Ronald "Jimmy" Hall

Mr. Jimmy Hall, 79, of Elm Street, Elberton, husband of Mary Blackmon Hall, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of his family.

Born James Ronald Hall in Wilkes County on November 25, 1944, Jimmy was known by several titles, “Daddy”, “Pops”, “Unk”, “Hot Hall”, and “Jim Dandy”, which was his CB handle. He attended Elbert County High School and graduated from North Georgia Technical College with a degree in brick masonry. Jimmy served his country with the Army National Guard. He was a truck driver for 50 years where he began driving with his dad at Hall Trucking Company, Argo Trucking, and eventually becoming the owner of Jim Hall Trucking and J&M Trucking Company. He worked the final ten years of his career as an equipment operator for M.B. Kahn Construction all throughout the Southeast.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton, Elberton Elks Lodge #1100, Elberton Pulliam-Burton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5456, the former Elberton Moose Lodge #1099, was member #413 of 1,000 of International Trucking Association, and a former member of the Elbert County Key Club.

An adventurer at heart, Jimmy never missed an opportunity to jump out of a perfectly good plane skydiving or hop in the waters of the Bahamas to scuba dive. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and having his morning breakfast at McIntosh Coffee Shop. Pops loved his family dearly and never missed an opportunity to be with them.

Jimmy was an avid University of Georgia football fan and enjoyed keeping up with NASCAR racing. He loved RV camping in the mountains and spending time at “The Get Away” at Santee. Above all, fishing was his passion. Jimmy never missed being in the North Carolina mountains the first weekend of June to celebrate the beginning of trout season as long as his health allowed. He enjoyed being a fishing guide on Santee Lake, fishing the back water of Clarks Hill Lake, and participating in the Ronald McDonald Fishing Tournaments at Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Matthew Hall, Jr. and Tommie Allgood Hall; brother, Fred Matthew “Sonny” Hall, III; niece, Paige Yeargin; and great-niece, Jessica Hall.

Surviving, in addition to his first mate and wife of 42 years, Mary, are his daughters: Candice and Kevin Brown and Kelly Patten; grandchildren: Nathan Patten, Leyton Brown and Emily Lewis, and Lauren and Jackson Jordan; great-granddaughter, Kaeleigh Patten; sister-in-law: Nancy Hall; nephew and nieces: James and Teresa Hall, Melanie and Glenn “Rip” Lunsford, and Tracie “Niece” and Stewart York. He also leaves behind siblings-in-law: Jimmy and Annette Blackmon, JoAnn and Bobby Johnson, Burt and Mary Blackmon, Lana Whitener – who has been a fantastic caregiver, Tim and Brenda Blackmon, and Laura and Jim McPherson and their respective families. Additionally, Jimmy is survived by numerous friends that turned into family over the years.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Jimmy’s life will be conducted on Friday, August 9, at 3:00p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Rev. Tim Adams and Mr. Stewart York officiating.
