Mr. James “Jim” Marshall Griggs, Jr., 75, of Lincolnton Rd., Washington, GA died peacefully at his home, Sunday, June 27, 2021.
Mr. Griggs was born July 14, 1945 in Montgomery, AL to James Marshall Griggs, Sr. and Margaret Reese Griggs. He grew up in Washington and graduated from WWCHS in 1963. He attended North GA College and graduated from the University of GA with a degree in insurance and real estate. He was veteran having served as a 2nd Lieutenant and later a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971.
Owner of Griggs-Ficklen Insurance and Real Estate for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Kiwanis International and served on the Hospital Authority. He attended Smyrna United Methodist Church as a child and later became a member of Washington First Baptist Church where he served a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He was a starting member of Pathway Community Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of Lincolnton First Assembly of God where he served on the Board, taught Sunday school and was a choir member. For many years he was active in prison ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Linda Curtis Griggs, sons and daughters-in-law: James “Jay” Marshall Griigs, III and Amy, Jonathan C. Griggs and Noelle; grandchildren: Brennah, Margaret, Findlay, Ludie, Ezra, Ellis, Kelton and Hattie Griggs; adopted granddaughters: Emily Sutton, Jordan Parham; nephews: Ken Brown and Susan and Ted Brown and Dianne.
Memorial services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held 4:30PM, Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Lincolnton First Assembly of God, 328 May Ave. Lincolnton, GA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Jim.
