Mr. James “Jimmy” Roger Bowie, Sr., 73, of Double Bridges Rd., Elberton, GA passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Mr. Bowie was born January 13, 1948 in Abbeville, SC to James “Pete” Nueffer Bowie and Maggie Evelyn Beauford Bowie. He was a member of Compassion Church of Hartwell, an ordained minister, an office equipment technician and an U.S. Army National Guard veteran.
Jimmy loved his God, Country, Georgia Bulldogs but the light of his eye was his grand-babies.
He is survived by his children: Rod and Sherri Bowie of Elberton, Becky and Wally Hash of Myrtle Beach, SC, siblings: Johnny and Belinda Bowie of Abbeville, SC, Brenda and Billy Norris of Abbeville, SC; grandchildren: Sommer and Chris Morris, Samantha and Cody Lester, Jessica and JBen Hardman, Matt and Jessica Mason, Evan and Ali Bowie and Maggee Bowie; and great-grandchildren: Grayson Morris, Lawson Morris and Jameson Morris.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Myra Annette Bryant Bowie and daughter Tracy Bowie Mason.
Funeral services to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held 12:30PM, Friday, September 10 at Celebration Outreach Center with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rick Womack officiating.
The family is at the home on Double Bridges Rd. and they will receive friends Friday from 11AM to 12PM just prior to the service at Celebration Outreach Center.
Flowers are optional and memorials can be made in Jimmy’s memory to The Jeffrey Vaden Chavis/Burn Foundation of America, 3614 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Building C, Augusta, GA 30909.
