James Marion Davis, 70, of Locklin Street, Elberton, husband of Sondra Jean Reed Davis, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Reverend James Marion Davis was born on December 19, 1950, to the late Mr. James Walter Davis and Ms. Salley Mae Davis. He was known as a gentle giant, a faithful servant in the community, and a man who loved his family. Before retirement, Reverend Davis worked in the local granite industry, with Phelps Brothers Funeral Home, and with Elbert County Transit Service. He was a founding member of the Faith Worship Center and a honorary member of The Hall Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Davis loved music,telling jokes, dressing in stylish clothes and driving nice vehicles.
Reverend Davis was happily married to Mrs. Sondra Jean Reed Davis. He leaves behind three daughters: Shanna Davis, Tamela Davis and Shalona Davis; and four step children Shokoa Plummer (Adrian), Aisha Rambert, Jaamal Rambert (Tabitha), and Rhashida Anderson; and god son, Brooks James. He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren as well as siblings: one bother, Leslie Wayne Davis (Lola) and one sister, Marian Ann Moss. Siblings preceding him in death are Jerry Tate, Earlene Phelps, and Mae Frances Gibbs. He also leave behind cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1PM, Monday, February 1, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home.
