Mr. James Odath Patterson, 85, of Nickville Road, Elberton, husband of the late Sandra Ann Whitener Patterson, finished his course in faith on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Patterson was born in Marengo County, Alabama on February 11, 1934, son of the late Marvin Eugene Patterson and Lidal Meeks Patterson. He was a top polisher having retired from the granite industry. Mr. Patterson was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and on the Baptistry committee.
Survivors include his son, James Forrest “Jim” Patterson and his wife Shirley; grandchildren: Wesley James Patterson and Megan Grace Patterson, all of Elberton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Annette Patterson of Tracy City, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Herbert Patterson, Marveen Bolden, and Jean Turman.
The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday, October 24. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, October 25, at 11 o’clock in the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Thrift officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
