Mr. James P. “J.P.” Dobson, Jr., 81, of S. Pope St. In Tignall, entered into rest Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Dobson was born in Elbert County to James P. Dobson, Sr. and Dovie Sue Childs Dobson, and had lived most of his life in Wilkes County. He was a general mechanic who could work on and fix anything. He was also a member of the Tignall Independence United Methodist Church.
Mr. Dobson is survived by two daughters, Carole Ann D. Brown (Mark), of Elberton, and Amy Elizabeth Dobson, of Greer, SC; five step daughters, Lisa Dozier (Thomas), of Washington, Dawn Robinson, Tignall, Jennifer Weaver (Dennis), of Tignall, Tina C. Howell (Ray), of Bowman, and Suzie Weaver (Randy), of Tignall; one sister, Ethel, of Anderson, SC; seventeen grandchildren, Teddy Brown, Kayla Light, Kierstyn Winecoff, Zachary Winecoff, Trae Stockwell, Alyssa Williams, Ken Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Dustie Robinson, Makayla Robinson, Sydney Robinson, Keegan Weaver, Kylie Weaver, Samantha Aderhold, Taylor Howell, Haley Weaver, and Emily Weaver; and twenty great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris King officiating. Burial will follow at the Tignall Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hopkins Funeral Home on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 12:30 until the time of the service.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and Jerry Wilson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, or to the American Heart Association.
