Mr. James Randall “Randy” Powell, 62, of Clairmont Avenue, Elberton, husband of 30 years to Tibitha Ann Conn Powell, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Select Speciality Hospital in Augusta.
Randy was born in Tifton on June 11, 1957, son of the late Frank Powell and Sara LaVaughn Walker Powell Parker. He was employed by the City of Elberton in the Recycling Department and was a member of Believers Baptist Church. Randy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and volunteering his time with the Elbert County Recreation Department.
Survivors include his wife, Tibitha; children: Tabitha and Allen Rucker, Magen and Josh Greene, Allen Chastain, and Jason Chastain; grandchildren: Alaina, Callie, Emily, Cora, and Reid; brother, Sammy and Debbie Powell; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris; cousins raised as siblings: LaVaughn Jones, Cheryl Bosley, and Kip and Vicki Hufstetler; special niece and nephews: Melinda Loper, Kenneth “Keybo” Harris, and Harold Harris; special friend, Jerry Garrett; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Harris.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 2 o’clock from the graveside in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton with Pastor Wade Dotson officiating.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 20.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Believers Baptist Church or to the Elbert County Recreation Department.
