Mr. James E. Savage, 74, of Royston, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospice House. Mr. Savage was born in Carnesville, Georgia to the late Morris and Francis Smith Savage.He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Vaughn Savage, and two sons, Gary Morris Savage, and Eddie James Savage.Mr. Savage was a veteran of the United States Army, and worked throughout his life as a carpenter.He was a member of Calvary Temple of Deliverance. Mr. Savage is survived by five children: Elaine Oliver, and Carey Savage, both of Lavonia, Vickie Massey (Earl) of Canon, Jimmy Savage (Dee Ann) of Hartwell, and Renea Floyd (Mike) of Elberton;seven grandchildren: Joey Oliver, David and Matthew Massey, Kelsey Floyd, Gary Savage, Candice Printz, and Georgia Ann Moore; and six great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Mr. Savage’s life was held in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastors Marshall Vaughn and Paul Hood officiating.Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dewayne Haley, Wayne Floyd, Dale Floyd, Brent Berryman, Dustin Massey, and Mike Stowe serving as pallbearers.A time of visitation was held on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services to help with the funeral expenses. Arrangements for Mr. James Savage were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
