James Walter Moon, Jr.

Mr. James Walter Moon, Jr., age 74, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his residence on North Broad Street in Bowman, GA.

Affectionately known as “Jimmy” and “Jimbo”, he was the youngest child and only son of the late James Walter Moon, Sr. and Cornelia Blanche Bryson Moon, and is also preceded in death by his sister, Willie ‘Jean’ Moon. He was a graduate of Campbell High School in Smyrna, GA and furthered his education at Wingate University in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Moon worked as a supervisor in the automotive industry for most of his life, with a brief stint in the insurance industry.

He was a member of Bowman Baptist Church and loved singing. Jimbo was an avid sportsman who enjoyed watching the Braves and playing golf.

Survivors include his children: James Walter “Jamie” Moon, III of Bowman, GA and Cara Danielle Shelton and her husband Joseph of Bowman, GA; sister, Carolyn Moon Olds and her husband Jim of Carlton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his beloved fiancé, Annie Fullbright of Elberton, GA and her children: Stephanie Cork of Athens, GA and Chris Fullbright of Atlanta, GA.

The family will host a memorial service on Saturday, May 20, at 2 o’clock at Bowman Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Petty officiating. Burial will be private in Hillcrest Cemetery.
