It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jamie Suzanne Henderson, age 75, of Bethlehem, GA, who left us on October 12, 2024. Born on May 25, 1949, Jamie dedicated her life to education and family, leaving a legacy of love and kindness.
Jamie taught high school home economics in Thomasville, GA, and later found her passion in nurturing young minds as a Kindergarten teacher in Virginia Beach, VA. After relocating to Georgia, she contributed her time as a substitute teacher in Gwinnett County. For the first 22 years of her 52-year marriage to her beloved husband, Jack Henderson, Jamie embraced the challenges of being a military wife, providing unwavering support through their many relocations.
A devoted wife and mother, Jamie is survived by her husband, Jack Henderson; her son, James, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Henderson; her daughter, Jacquelyn, and son-in-law, Mark Lavender; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Joan Jackson, and her sister, Judy Palmer.
Jamie had a deep love for nature, particularly flowers, and spent countless hours tending to her garden. She found delight in the company of birds, especially hummingbirds, and butterflies, which reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life’s beauty.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Loganville, located at 680 Tom Brewer Road, Loganville, GA 30052. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Apalachee Recovery through the Barrow Community Foundation at barrowcommunityfoundation.org/barrow-community-crisis-fund. Jamie’s warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
