Mrs. Jane Godsey Lunceford, 83, of Elberton, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.A native of Elberton, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Effie Haynie Godsey.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Godsey and an infant brother Raymond Godsey.She married Eugene Franklin Lunceford on January 14, 1956.Mrs. Lunceford was a homemaker and a faithful member of Bethel E Baptist Church.Being devoted to her church and family, she was described by her grandchildren as “the best Meme in the world.”She loved to cook, the outdoors, gardening and flowers. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Gene Lunceford; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Rick Mewborn, and Renae and Wesley Moss; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Dianne Lunceford, all of Elberton; Sister, Lorene Brown; Grandchildren, Jana (Nick) Milford, Hodges, SC, Jodi Mewborn, Cody Moss, Callie Moss, Brooke Lunceford (James Burke) and Jamie Ivester; Great grandchildren, Jace Milford, Jax Milford, Kinsley Mewborn, Alex Ivester and Charlee Burke. There will be a drive-in service Sunday, May 3rd at 3:00pm in the Forest Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Mize and Mr. Reese Palmeri officiating.Cody Moss, Nick Millford, Alex Ivester and Jamie Ivester serving as pallbearers and Rick Mewborn and Wesley Moss serving as honorary pallbearers.Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.Mrs. Lunceford’s request for a closed casket will be honored, however friends may come by the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 – 4:00pm to sign the register.
