Mrs. Janette Beasley Ray, 76, of 1022 Jones Ferry Road, Elberton, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospice House Bogart, Georgia, Sunday, September 11, 2011, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ray was born September 17, 1934 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Jack and Ida Mae Barrett Beasley. She was married to the late Bobby Ray. She retired from the Elbert County Tax Commissioners Office and had previously been employed by Rilla Inc. and Elberton Mills. Mrs. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church, Elberton, Georgia. Mrs. Ray is survived by a daughter Anne (Tim) Wilhite and son-in-law David Scarborough of Elberton. She is also survived by sisters Martha (Ted) Lynch of Savannah, Georgia, Betty (Johnny) Harper of Bowman, Georgia, sister-in-laws Lera Ray of Bowman, Georgia and Mary Wilbanks of Jefferson, Georgia, and brother-in-law Sam Crisco of Covington, Georgia; four grandchildren, Chris (Denise) Scarborough, Jan (Scott) Lunsford, Josh Wilhite, and Jodie (David) Baston; three great grandchildren, Cody and Alex Scarborough and Ayden Lunsford all of Elberton. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her daughter Debby Ray Scarborough. A celebration of Mrs. Ray’s life will be held Tuesday September 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Purvis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. The family is accepting flowers or memorials may be made to TJ and Friends Foundation, Inc., 1675 Deep Creek Road, Dewy Rose, Georgia 30634 The family is at the residence of Anne and Tim Wilhite 1022 Jones Ferry Road, Elberton.
