Mrs. Millie Jane Martin Anderson, 98, of Elberton wenthome to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Nancy Hart Nursing Home. Mrs. Anderson was born on December 6, 1914 to the late George Washington and Amanda Ashworth Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Middleton United Methodist Church. She loved working in her church, reading her bible and cherished serving the Lord. She was the wife of the late Gaines Thomas Anderson for 59 years. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Fay Anderson Cheek; and siblings:Tom Martin, Bill Martin, Mamie Crenshaw and Daisy Herring. She is survived by one sister, Rebecca Bond, 100 of Royston. A devoted Christian lady, her church and her family were always her priority. She worked diligently with her husband on their farm for many years and provided a loving home for her husband and five children. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted wife, mother,and grandmother. All that knew her considered it a blessing to call her friend. Left to cherish her wonderful memories are her children: William (Bill) Anderson, Evelyn A. Snellings, David Anderson, and Ray Anderson. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Anderson’s life was held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with the Reverend Sharon Coley of Middleton Chargeofficiating. Interment followed at Middleton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Hicks Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. just prior to the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Middleton Methodist Church, P.O. Box 660, Elberton, Georgia30635. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Evelyn Snellings at 1276 Middleton Church Road., Elberton, Georgia. Arrangements for Mrs. Millie Jane Martin Anderson are in the care of Hicks Funeral Home of Elberton.
