Janie Wright Giannoni

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janie Wright Giannoni, age 95, who passed away peacefully at her home in Elberton, Georgia, on January 27, 2025.

Janie was born on May 16, 1929, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to her beloved parents, Bob and Gladys Wright. A bright and determined student, she graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Mathematics.

While her professional title was a stay-at-home mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Janie’s impact was far-reaching, as she was the best at these roles. A woman of boundless energy and grace, Janie filled her life with hobbies and community involvement. She loved tennis, golf, bridge and growing roses, and her talents extended to entertaining and cooking, often hosting elaborate gatherings.

A proud member of the Elberton Methodist Church, Janie devoted much of her time to helping others in her community, frequently providing transportation to those in need for doctor’s appointments. Among her many talents, she was known for her legendary University of Georgia tailgate picnics, which she lovingly organized for over fifty years!

Janie was the embodiment of positivity, kindness, and grace. She made everyone feel loved and important, putting her heart and soul into every interaction and event. A classy and optimistic lady, she brought joy and light to everyone she encountered. Janie cherished her family above all, finding immense happiness in her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was truly one of a kind, and her love, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Janie was predeceased by her husband, Paul Giannoni, with whom she shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. She is survived by her loving children, Brittany Wright, who resided in Elberton to care for her mother for over a decade, and Gary Giannoni and his wife Pat, who live in Cape Coral, FL. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Courtney Giannoni Kessler (married to Luke Kessler), with their children, Knox (10) and Lincoln (9); and Keegan Giannoni, along with his beloved, Meagan Hyde.

A funeral service to celebrate Janie’s life will be held on Monday, February 3rd, at 11:00 AM, at the First Methodist Church, located at 132 E Church St, Elberton, GA. She will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM. Following the church service, there will be a graveside service at Elmhurst Cemetery, 400 North Oliver Street, Elberton, GA.

The family invites friends and loved ones to a “Celebration of Life” visitation at Janie’s residence, 900 Oakhill Rd, Elberton, GA, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM after the services.
