Janie Deal Ray

Mrs. Janie Deal Ray, 86, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Nancy Hart Health Center. Mrs. Ray was the daughter of the late Perry Lee and Lillie Cantrell Deal.She was married to the late Azel M. Ray, and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Whitfield.Mrs. Ray worked for many years at Quik Mart in Elberton as a sales clerk.In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, as well as seeing the beautiful flowers in bloom. Mrs. Ray is survived by her children: Calvin Ray of Vanna, Judy Ray of Elberton, David Ray and his wife, Barbara, of Lavonia, Nancy Ashworth of Vanna, and Dina Stovall and her husband, Jack, of Elberton.She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Clint Bowen, Susan Carroll, Shane Ellison, David Ellison, Melissa Parker, Johnny Ray, and Joni Cox. Private interment was in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to T.J. & Friends Foundation at P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, Georgia 30635. Arrangements for Mrs. Janie Ray were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
