Jean Patterson Turman, 79, of 1606 Parkman Road, Elberton, wife of L.C. Turman, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2011, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Nancy Hart Nursing Home for 5 months. Mrs. Turman was born in Monteagle, Tenneesee, March 24, 1932, to the late Marvin Eugene and Lydle Meeks Patterson. She was a member of the Elberton Church of God and was a retired seamstress with Elberton Manufacturing. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, L.C. Turman; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Lee Black; grandsons and wives, Brandon and Len Black and Wesley and Mindy Black, all of Elberton; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert M. Patterson of Monteagle, Tenneesee and James O. Patterson of Elberton. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 3PM Monday, October 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. James Traffensted and Jimmy Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Roy Lee Pless, Terry Pless, Marty Bagwell, Jeremy Gibson, Jim Patterson, and Adam Hendrix serving as pallbearers. The family is at the home of Wanda Black, 1601 Pine Lake Drive, Elberton, and will receive friends from 2-3PM Monday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
