Jean Poore Greenway, 83, resident of Abbey Court, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and daughter-in-law, Monday, November 15, 2021, at her home.
Born April 21, 1938, in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Frank Emory Poore and Pauline Childs Poore. She was a graduate of Elberton High School and attended college in Atlanta. Ms. Greenway retired as the book store manager for Piedmont Technical College.
A member of Cambridge United Methodist Church in Ninety Six, she was also very active in state and national Republican Party affairs and committees as well as being active in several state and national book store manager associations. She had a special fondness for gardening and loved plants in her home and yard.
Surviving are a daughter, Lori Dawn Greenway of Ninety Six; a son, Jeffery Smith Greenway and wife Nora of Prosperity, SC; a brother, Eddie Poore of Stone Mountain, GA; and a grand-daughter, Mary Gordon Greenway of Honolulu, HI.
She was predeceased by a son, Victor Ross Greenway, a grandson, Emory Harrison Greenway, three sisters, Grace Boozer, Dixie Fernandez and Frankie Higginbotham, and a brother, Jack Poore.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Sunday, November 21st, at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, SC with Rev. Rick Hendricks officiating. Honorary urn bearers will be Brad “Mike” Boozer, Perry Fernandez, Frank Poore, Joe Higginbotham, Jr., Chip Willrett and John Greenway.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:30 Sunday afternoon immediately before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Faith Home, 144 Faith Home Road, Greenwood, SC 29649, the Billy Graham Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201, or to the Agape Care Group, 326 Montague Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649.
