Jeffery Allen Barker, 39, of Atlanta, formerly of Elberton, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Athens. Born on July 26, 1970 in Elbert County, he was a son of Anne Dixon Barker of Elberton and the late James M. Barker, Jr. He was employed by Agnes Muriel’s Inc. as a Special Events Coordinator. Survivors include his mother, Anne Dixon Barker; brother and sister-in-law, James M. “Jimmy”, III and Tammi Barker, all of Elberton; nephews, Miles Barker, Ryan Herman, and Gary Hahn, Jr.; nieces, Addison Barker, Amy Schmitt, and Leanna Hahn; and step-sisters, Tammy Hahn and Martha Ellen Herman, both of Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 3PM from the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Dr. Denni Moss, Reverend Dwight Morgan, and The Right Reverend Herschel Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Fortsonia Community Cemetery. A reception will be held on Saturday from 2-3PM just prior to the service during visitation at the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. The family will be at the home of Jimmy and Tammi Barker, 1276 Grady Cleveland Road, Elberton. Pallbearers will include Ryan Herman, Steve Searcy, Pete Smith, Don Maxwell, Steve Jenkins, and John Jenkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Discretion Fund, 109 Brookside Drive, Elberton, Georgia 30635, to the Falling Creek Baptist Church, 1020 Jack McVeigh Drive, Elberton, Georgia 30635, or to T.J. & Friends Foundation, 1675 Deep Creek Road, Dewy Rose, Georgia 30634. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Jeffery Allen Barker.
