Jenelle Mattox Mccannon

Mrs. Jenelle Mattox "Nell" McCannon, better known as "Aggie", of Tiller-Bridges Road, Carlton, wife of the late Jim Tom McCannon, peacefully entered into rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center with her family by her side. She was 95.

Mrs. McCannon was born in Oglethorpe County on March 3, 1921, daughter of the late John A. and Rossie Lovinggood Mattox. She was a homemaker and a member of Burts United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Anita Hudson and her husband Donnie of Elberton; daughter-in-law, Judy McCannon of Elberton; siblings: Lessie Scott of Winterville and William B. Mattox of Crawford; grandchildren and their spouses: Gary McCannon, Tracy and Tommy Johnson, Chris and Kayla Hudson, and Amanda and Justin Fortson; great-grandchildren: Clint McCannon, Kevin and Carrie McCannon, Josh McCannon, Nicole Johnson, Brian McCannon, Will Fortson, Charlie Fortson, Jackson Hudson, Mattison Hudson, and Sadie Rae Hudson; great-great-grandchild, Rachel McCannon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Thomas McCannon; and siblings: Ruth Cline, Monteen Smith, Parks Mattox, Johnny Doyle Mattox, Jimmy Mattox, and Blanton Mattox.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 18, at 4 o'clock from Burts United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Bowers and the Rev. Russell Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. McCannon will lie instate for one hour prior to the service.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening.
