Jerry Donald Seymour

Mr. Jerry Donald Seymour, born in Elberton on May 29, 1937, passed away suddenly at his residence in Elberton on July 8, 2018. He was 81.

He was one of five boys born to Coy Atticus Seymour and Emma Ruth Moss Seymour, and grew up in Bowman. He is preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers: Billy, Thomas, Kenneth, and Wilton. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country faithfully for four years. He retired after 30 years of service from Pacific Gas & Electric in Oakland, California. He graciously donated time to his community and impacted the lives of thousands as a Hunter’s Safety Course Instructor for over 20 years. Jerry was an avid duck hunter, trap shooter, fisherman, and gardener. He was a member and deacon of Elberton Christian Church and longtime member of Ducks Unlimited.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Suzanne Marie Morrison Seymour; children: Debbie Seymour of Lumberton, NJ and Christopher Vincent Anton and wife Robin of Fleming Island, FL; grandchildren: Ryan Vincent Anton, Lauren Emily Anton, Morghan Ashley Najour, and Logan Taylor Najour; sister-in-law, Aurelia Seymour of Bowman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, July 13, at 11 o’clock at Elberton Christian Church with the Rev. Jay Akin officiating. Military rites will be rendered by the U.S. Navy. Family graveside services will be held on Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman.

Jerry is at Berry Funeral Home in Elberton and will be placed in the church at 10 o’clock Friday morning. The family is at the residence on Bakers Ferry Road and will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday evening.
