Jim Hastie Whitaker

Mr. Jim Hastie Whitaker, 86, of Petersburg Rd., Elberton, GA passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Whitaker was born October 20, 1931 in Bonifay, FL to James D. Whitaker and Carrie Holland Walsh Whitaker. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Elbert Memorial Hospital where he was part of housekeeping.

Survivors include daughters: Marsha Whitaker Bowers Heide of Royston, GA, Joyce Ann Whitaker Fife of Bowman, GA; brother: Wiley Whitaker of Graceville, FL; grandchildren: Rebekah Bowers Santiago, David Fife, Michael Fife; great-grandchildren: Jamie Santiago and Dessie Lee Santiago.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Magdalene Busby Whitaker; sisters: Mary Vickers, Myrtie Tindell, Amie Crain, Katie Hamilton; half-sister: Burtie Taylor; brothers: J.L. Whitaker, Roy Whitaker, Cecil Whitaker, Andrew Whitaker, Harvey Whitaker, Alvin Whitaker; and a half-brother: Walter Walsh.

Memorial services will be held 3PM, Friday, January 19 at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Bailey and Rev. Richard Fife officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3PM just before the service at West End Baptist Church. The family is at the home of Joyce Whitaker Fife at 1173 Fork Creek Rd. Bowman, GA.
