Mr. Jimmy D. Evans, 83, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital.A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Evans was the son of the late Alice T.Evans.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita E.Roberson, and a brother, E. Samuel Evans. Jim was the husband of Mary Lynn Eavenson Evans, with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage in January of 2021.He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country from 1961-1963, as an MP.Jim worked for Eaves Packing Company as plant foreman for 24 years, and owned and operated two mobile home companies in Augusta, Georgia for 28 years. In 2012, Jim and Mary Lynn, along with their beloved dog, Buddy, moved to Elberton to enjoy more time with family and friends.He enjoyed gardening and mowing the yard as long as he was able to do so, and could be found watching Gunsmoke when he had the opportunity. In addition to his wife, Mary Lynn Evans, survivors also include his son, Rock Evans (Laura); his daughter, Rhonda Gunter (Scott); and his step-daughter, Lynn Hernandez (Terry Bryant), all of Elberton; his grandchildren: Cody Gunter, Clint Gunter (Ande), Brad Evans, Morgan Evans, Maria Hernandez, and Victoria Hernandez; and his great-grandchildren, Towns and Birdie Rae Gunter.He also leaves behind four brothers: Bobby Evans (Janice), Wilbur Evans (Bertie Faye), Doug Evans, and William Wayne Evans (Marie); four sisters: Frances Ware, Donna Sue Bolton, Nikki Evans, and Millie Faye Trammell; a brother-in-law, Alden Roberson; and a sister-in-law, Sheryl Evans. Graveside service with Military Honors was conducted on Sunday, November 29th at 2:00pm in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Smith, Rev. Thomas Moon and Rev. Todd Ware officiating.Gary Dixon, Mike Mercer, Timmy Evans, James Jones, Todd Ware, Dean Ware, Danny Roberson, and Bobby (Butch) Evans, Sam Bradley, and Hugh Keener served as honorary pallbearers.A time of visitation began at 1:00 at the graveside just prior to the service Memorial contributions may be made to T.J. & Friends Foundation at P.O.
