Jimmy "J.J." Jordan, age 72, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 following a brief illness.
Jimmy was born in Elberton to the late Clifford Jeffery Jordan and Bessie Lois Stone
He proudly served in the United States Army where he qualified as an M16 sharpshooter. Following his service to our country, Jimmy came home to Elberton where he spent 35 years as a police officer.
He believed in golf, family, and God… and not necessarily in that order. Jimmy loved without boundaries, while not holding anything back when it came to giving advice. He will be remembered for his strong voice and his deep love.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, JoAnn Jordan; and sister, Dottie Cagle.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of three years, Deborah Scarborough Jordan; five children, Donna Holbert Adriance (Buck), Amy Adams (Keith), Katie Smith, Timothy Arthur Holbert (Patty), T.J. Holbert; sisters and brother, Mary Helen Turner, Barbara Ann Lusk, Linda Faye Floyd, and Thomas Jeffery Jordan (Debbi); mother in law and father in law, John Tom and Peggy Scarborough; sister in law and brothers in law, Vickie Little (Kenneth), Arelia Lane (Randy), James Scarborough (Gale), and Paul Scarborough (Kelly.) He was the proud Papa to fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. And last but certainly not least, Jimmy leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Tiger.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday in the Hicks Chapel of the Historic Joseph Cohen House, 231 Heard Street.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will take place at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Forest Hills Assembly of God with Pastor Jimmy Wilson and Reverend James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be directed to an account at Pinnacle Bank for Jimmy's pastor who is courageously battling ALS. Please reference, Vickie Little- Benefit for Jimmy Wilson Fund.
