Jimmy Leroy Looney, Jr.

Mr. Jimmy Leroy Looney, Jr., 74, of Fork Creek Circle, Bowman, husband of 38 years to Betty Lucille Wilder Looney, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Jimmy was born in Athens on February 15, 1946, son of the late Jimmy Leroy Looney, Sr., and Martha Hanson Looney Moon, and step-son of the late Ward Moon. He was retired from Elberton Granite Association and a member of Victory Baptist Church. “Jim Jim” enjoyed being with his family and devoted his life to taking care of Betty.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; children: Skip (Sherryl) Partain of Bowman, Leonard "PeeWee" (Emily) Partain of Abbeville, SC, Melvene (Alan) Martin of Royston, and Johnny (Bobbie Sue) Partain of Elberton; grandchildren: Tammy (Terry) Dalton, Ben (Gina) Partain, Laura (Michael “Blue”) Manley, Andrea (Rick) Garcia, Stephen (Kim) Martin, Terry Martin, Kerry (Dena) Partain, and Jeremy (Jennifer) Partain; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 3 o’clock at Victory Baptist Church with the Revs. Sean Beaughman and Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. He will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday, July 10.
